THURSDAY
Last weekend, I didn’t do anything. Two of my roommates and I stayed in town so we could just relax. On Friday it rained, which sucked. Today for one of my art history classes, we took a field trip to San Lorenzo, the Medici chapel to look at a couple of sculptures we had studied in class. It is crazy that I can walk just down the street to see the original artworks. For lunch, I went to the centrale Mercado to get some sushi. It was on the pricier side, but oh so yummy (nice break my everyday meal of pasta). I sat on the steps of the San Lorenzo to eat and finish my Italian homework. It blows my mind that I have been here for a month! I am 25% done with this semester.
FRIDAY
We decided once we woke up that we wanted to take a day trip to either Siena or Pisa. That was poor planning on our part (we were waiting to see if it was going to be a nice day). We had to rush to the train station as we only had 20 minutes until the train departed for Siena. We ended up getting tickets to Pisa (later departure). The train to Pisa was about an hour train ride. We got off and walked towards the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We stopped at Il Dado del Lumière for lunch, which was quite yummy. We headed back towards the Tower and explored around the piazza. We ended up going into the Cathedral (free entry) and looked around. We walked back to the train station, making a quick stop for gelato while sitting by the river.

SUNDAY
We went to the Uffizi because it was free museum day Sunday. It wasn’t too crowded and we only waited in line for about 30 minutes. We then went to go get crepes/waffles at La Milkeria (highly suggest). I got a waffle with vanilla gelato on top!

For dinner, we went to Trattoria Pizzeria Dante (across the river from us). It might be one of my new favorite places. They had so many good looking options and it was well priced.
Today, Maggie and I booked a trip to Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg for this weekend. We are both super excited to be heading out of the country for the first time since we’ve been here. The weather in Florence has been really yucky. As I am writing this, it is pouring rain with occasional thunder and lightning. I really hope it improves soon. Also, the power went out for a solid three minutes. Even the Duomo lights went out. The only light seen was from the lightning lighting up the night sky.
Spring Break is just around the corner, and Leigh (another roommate) and I are going to be going to Brussels, Dublin, and Paris.

Envious!
